Life does not come with a manual. At times, you might feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure about what to do next. At Protea Counselling, we provide a welcoming space for adults. Here, they can explore their feelings and discover a path that feels right for them.

No matter if you face anxiety, low mood, relationship issues, burnout, or questions about identity and purpose, our adult counselling focuses on you.

Why Adults Seek Counselling

People come to therapy for many different reasons. Some adults face recent life changes, while others are working through patterns they want to understand better. Common themes we explore in adult counselling include:

  • Stress and anxiety that feels hard to manage
  • Low self esteem or feelings of not being good enough
  • Grief, loss or major transitions such as separation or career change
  • Relationship issues, either in the past or present
  • Past trauma or unresolved childhood experiences
  • Feeling stuck, disconnected or unsure of your direction

You do not need to have everything figured out before coming to counselling. You only need to be open to starting a conversation.

Working with a Counsellor You Can Trust

At Protea, our work is grounded in a therapeutic relationship built on trust, empathy and respect. As an experienced adult counsellor, we listen without judgment. We adapt each session to fit your needs. This helps you make sense of your experiences in a supportive and manageable way.

We use an integrative approach. This means we combine different therapy models. These include person-centred therapy, cognitive behavioural strategies, and mindfulness techniques.

Take the First Step with Protea Counselling

Reaching out for support is a sign of strength, not weakness. Whether this is your first time exploring therapy or you are returning to it after a break, we are here to meet you where you are.

Sessions Designed Around You

Every person’s story is different, which is why our sessions are never one size fits all. We take the time to understand your perspective, what you hope to gain from therapy, and how you like to work.

Counselling sessions last 50 minutes and are available both in person in Brentwood or online if that suits your lifestyle better.

We also offer a free 20 minute consultation call to make sure it feels like the right fit before we begin.

Supporting the Whole Family

Reaching out for support is a sign of strength, not weakness. Whether this is your first time exploring therapy or you are returning to it after a break, we are here to meet you where you are.

Counselling can be particularly effective in addressing issues such as depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, and relationship problems. For instance, it can help individuals struggling with work-related stress, family conflicts, or self-esteem issues. It’s a powerful tool for personal development and mental health care, offering a path towards a more fulfilling and balanced life.
